Our projectors use technology from Texas Instruments known as digital light processing, or DLP, to form the images on screen. Each projector has 3 DLP chips which measure 1.2 inches by .6 inches. Each of these chips have 2,211,840 individual mirrors that can adjust in an on off position up to 5,000 time per second. These individual mirrors are 16 microns wide or 1/6th the width of a piece of paper and each mirror represents one pixel on the screen. Our drive-in theaters require the largest projectors available with brighter light sources and special lenses due to the large screen size and great distances from the projector to the screen – anywhere from 200 feet to 850 feet.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the amazing and awesome experience of the modern drive-in at West Wind. You won’t believe your eyes.
